Every great celebration starts with a great story, and The Fillmore KC is no exception.
The Fillmore KC was dreamt up by the Unity Church of Overland Park team, a group known for their creativity, community spirit, and commitment to creating spaces where people feel connected. For over five years, Unity has hosted their services inside Plexpod Lenexa, a vibrant coworking and event space filled with local entrepreneurs, dreamers, and doers.
As their community continued to grow, the Unity team began exploring what their next chapter might look like. They wanted to create something lasting, a place that could truly feel like home not only for their congregation but for the wider Lenexa community.
That’s when inspiration struck.
They approached the owners of Plexpod with an idea. What if Unity took over management of the event venue and gave it new life? Before the pandemic, the space had been full of celebrations including weddings, corporate events, and community gatherings, but it had quieted in recent years. The team saw incredible potential to bring the energy back.
In May 2025, the transformation began.
The Unity team designed and executed a complete refresh of the space, upgrading sound equipment, painting, adding warm new colors, modern draping, updated photos, and thoughtful design touches that elevated every corner of the venue. The result was a space that felt fresh, elegant, and ready to host memories once again.
The grand reopening of The Fillmore KC marked a new beginning, not just for the venue but for everyone who loves to celebrate life’s milestones right here in the heart of Lenexa.
